圆钱又称环钱,来源于纺伦,亦有一说源于古时珠玉,上古有玉璧,呈环状。先秦时期圆钱有两类:一类是钱体呈圆形,中央有圆孔(亦谓之“好”或“穿”),圆孔大小因时间早晚而有所不同。一般说来,早期者孔较小,晚期者孔较大,制作比较原始;另一类钱体呈圆形,中央有一方孔,铸行较晚。战国时期,除楚国外,大都铸发圆钱,圆钱的基本形制是圆形,扁平,中央有穿,穿孔先圆后方,钱缘由无廓发展成有廓,钱面有钱文表示地名、币值、重量等。钱背多是光背,极少有其他符号。
